There are three different types of stamps that Stampin’ Up! makes. They’re the most common types that you can use to create stamping related projects. The three types are wood mount, clear mount and photopolymer. All three stamp styles that Stampin’ Up! offers are made from superior materials in the USA and are beautifully packaged in DVD-style cases with stamp images on the spine for easy storage and quick reference. Let’s explore what makes them different types of stamps!
Stampin’ Up!’s wood mount stamps are made using a high-quality red rubber. The red rubber stamps are precut and come with farmed-maple wood blocks. Mount these stamps permanently on the blocks and they’re ready to go when you are! The premium red rubber will last for years and give a crisp, clear stamped impression each time.
The benefits of using wood mount stamps include: being ready to go whenever you want to stamp (who doesn’t love less prep time for projects?!), a groove on the wood block you can hold easily, and squishy red rubber that stamps crisply each time.
The cons of using wood mount stamps include: not being able to see where you stamp, which makes it a little harder to layer images perfectly each time.
Stampin’ Up!’s high-quality clear-mount stamps are made of the same high-quality rubber as their wood-mount stamps, but they’re repositionable. Temporarily mount these precut stamps on clear blocks for stamping, then remove them for space-saving storage. You’ll only need one set of blocks for all your clear-mount stamps (blocks sold separately).
The benefits of using clear mount stamps include: Only needing one set of blocks to use all your stamps – huge space saver compared to wood mount stamps! And being able to rearrange the design, so you could mount multiple clear mount stamps to one block to make a quick pattern.
The cons of using clear mount stamps include: not being able to see where you stamp, which makes it a little harder to layer images perfectly each time. If you’re a new stamper then you’ll need to purchase a set of clear-blocks before you can hit the ground running (blocks are sold separately).
Stampin’ Up!’s top-quality photopolymer stamps are entirely transparent for perfect image placement, and they adhere well to their clear blocks. They’re flexible and easy to line up, giving you even more creative possibilities with each set. You can mix and match, bend, and layer images easily. You’ll only need one set of blocks for all your photopolymer stamps (blocks sold separately).
The benefits of using photopolymer mount stamps include: Only needing one set of blocks to use all your stamps – huge space saver compared to wood mount stamps! Thin, light weight and mix-and-match-able photopolymer stamps are excellent for layering, for two-step-stamping, and mix and matching to create new designs and scenes. Thin and see through, these stamps are easy to use, even for new stampers.
The cons of using photopolymer mount stamps include: If you’re a new stamper then you’ll need to purchase a set of clear-blocks before you can hit the ground running (blocks are sold separately).
I love, love, love photopolymer stamps! They are my definite favourite, and they make detailed projects really easy. I love that I can see through them, layer them and they don’t take up very much space. This was very helpful when I was learning to stamp, and helped me to become more confident in my stamping ability quickly.
I love wood mount stamps for large background stamps, because I find that I can easily stamp an image uniformly. The wood blocks are also easy to hold, which helps me to stamp large images (I have small hands LOL).
