Social Stampers is a brand I’ve come to love creating under, and the process of bringing my passions together has been so glorious! But along the way I’ve had some big life changes, and I’ve decided to put Social Stampers out of the spotlight and more as a feature of tips from my craft room instead.
You see, turning my hobby (crafting) into a business has been a lifelong journey and I’ve created under my own name and under my business name for hundreds of different people around the world. It’s been a blast! But somewhere along the way I lost the joy of just getting lost in the process of having fun creating and playing around in my craft room. And I really wanted to get that feeling back!
So, Social Stampers is now a section of my lifestyle blog, At Home With the Shepherds, and it’s just another facet of my entrepreneur life that I get to share with friends like you! On so many levels I couldn’t be happier about the change!
You see, I’ve spent the last 8 years on a mission to change my career after spending 20 years working in the same career in government and the private sector. I wasn’t content to stay doing the exact same thing forever, and change is good! But with the process of 8 years of post-secondary education, several job changes, engagement, marriage, a couple of moves, puppy adoption (twice!), and several family hiccups came a whole lot of change for me personally.
I had to shelve a lot of the things I loved and only got to pick them up once in a while. Crafting and DIY projects were one of those things. With so little time to spend crafting, it was hard to keep building a business around it. So, Social Stampers hit the slow down button last year while I worked to figure my life out and finish my Master’s degree.
The more I dove into my last Master’s project, the more I realized that I needed a place to share my story and to build community with other people like me. Over the 14 months that I chipped away at that research project the more things fell into place and I started to figure out just what I wanted to put out into the world. Turns out I put more out there than I intended to, but I’m darn proud that I did!
By the time I submitted my final edits, I had also created this new blog and rebranded the Social Stampers website with a fresh new look that coordinates with my business website, She’s Got Vision (yes, I am a serial entrepreneur). The two sites are intended to be sister sites, with She’s Got Vision focusing in on all things business – from systems to marketing to growth strategies – and At Home With the Shepherds focusing on entrepreneur life and stories of overcoming.
I hope you enjoy the new topics and the way I’m pairing them together. I want to hear from you, about your story, and what things you’ve overcome, or the crafting projects you love to create, or your favorite recipes and shows. Drop me a line in the comments and let’s get to know each other better!
